Arty Party

Last week it was my eldest DD's 9th birthday, and we celebrated by having an Arty Party. I made up tote bags for each of the girls and filled them with the bits that they would need for their projects. They girls had a wonderful time, painting and glittering "create" wordart, making a washer necklace, a safety pin bracelet and a photo bookmark. I overheard comments to my DD that "This is the best party EVER!" so I assume it was a success! My DD was happy with her day and had a wonderful time.

Here is a snapshot of the day....

And these are the 6 tote bags I made.

A "must do" done!

A few years ago MIL and FIL gave me a Cath Kidson book filled with projects and some fabric for a little handbag.
Today I decided to put it together. I didn't do it exactly how Cath instructed, but it's still pretty close. I flicked through the book, and there are tonnes of really awesome ideas in there that I can use up stash on.

Thank you is not enough..

Today DS and I said goodbye to his speech therapist - the one who has been with us since the start of getting EJ tested and diagnosed with sensory processing disorder etc. She has been such a support to me, listening to me and helping me and doing her utmost to help EJ with his speech disorder. Our time with the mental health unit is up, and to show her our appreciation I made her this.

Going to Uni in style!!

I have an intensive at the uni over the school holidays - and I did not have a bag big enough to take my folders, text books, lunch box etc.... So I made one! :) It's supposed to be a nappy bag, but eh, it looks good as a uni bag too don't you think?

Sparkling Tote

This tote I whipped up today for my good friend for her birthday. The fabric is glittery and I stuck on this rhinestone heart.

Finally! A new bag for me!

After having this fabric for nearly half a year and having the intention of making myself a new bag... I finally did it!!

This is similar to my SIL's 12 Pocket Tote, but I've made mine considerably smaller, and it's perfect! It's a good size and has 12 smallish pockets to stash lipsticks, puffers, my phone, and other smallish things - instead of them rattling around in my bag like they usually do.

So since this has been a "to-do" for sometime, I have decided to make this project my OPM for January!
So congratulate me! I've started and finished something that I have been meaning to do for AGES! And I made something for ME. This is rather unusual. Since I am usually making things for everyone else!

12 Pocket Tote Bag

This is part two of my SIL's birthday present. As I said before she is a face painter - and I thought this bag would make it easier to tote all her gear with her from gig to gig. It has 12 pockets and it's quite roomy.

I used this tutorial: 12 Pocket Tote Bag

I like this bag. I am very tempted to make one for myself. :) I did however break two machine needles while sewing this baby up. The fabric gets very thick at times.

Bible Cover/Bible Handbag

Last week my dear man gave me an early birthday present - a brand new study Bible. For those of you who care, it's the New Living Translation - Transformation Study Bible.

I wanted to make myself a really nice Bible cover for it to go in. I searched online for tutorials and patterns for what I wanted, and I couldn't find a thing that I liked, so I had to wing it a bit. One day I may write a tutorial for this.

This is how it turned out.

I'm really happy with it. It looks like a cute handbag when I am carrying it. It has 4 pockets, inside and out. I am going to have the most stylish Bible cover in the church! :) My Mum bought me this fabric to "make something for myself with" - I think I have enough fabric to make a really cute tote bag or something for myself. But I think I need to get xmas stuff over and done with first. Not to mention my Spring Cleaning List.

Hmm... I have one month to go.. I better get on with it!!

In honor of spring....

.....I decided to make something for summer!!!

Our cheap and nasty vinyl pool/beach/swimming bag gave up and is all feral and broken. So I decided to put the fabric I bought a few weeks ago to good use and made a new one. This bag is HUGE. It will fit all our towels, sunscreen, the odd floatie and it even has a little pocket inside to store our keys and phones.

I had some fabric left over, and I liked it so much that I made myself a new tote-bag..

I've also finished the quilt top for my brother's baby - but I'll take picks of that when I've quilted it. :)

The pic and the week ahead

This is the bag that I whipped up for my Mum. It's a shopping bag. she loved it! :)

Photobucket

This week I will be having my own little one-man factory in my craft room. I have two weeks to get a load of stuff made up to sell on a trade table. I think I mentioned before that I have an opportunity to see a few of the things I make. So I am going to do that this week. I've cut up about a gazillion shopping bags so far. Once I have the lining prepared, I'll be ready.

Finally!!!

I have been so busy, I haven't had time to update my latest projects!

First of all, this is my Mother's Day creation I made for my dear Mum. It's a quilted shopping bag. It's very roomy and tall so she could fit lots of bits and bobs in there. I was really happy with how it turned out, and of course she LOVED it.

I made this card for her for Mother's Day:

I also made another pencil roll, a different pattern this time. I didn't like it as much because it doesn't lay flat, but I DID like that it took me half the time!!

This is for a little boy. I just love the fabrics - very bright and cheeful. I am weighing up if I should make him a little tote bag to go with it. I'll see how I go this weekend. But this needs mailing off on Monday.

Photobucket

I also made myself a handbag, but haven't gotten around to taking photos as yet. I'll do that soon.

I'm still plodding away on the flowery raggy quilt. I need to get that done asap because that is taking up alot of space in my work area! I also want to get on with Milly's raggy quilt before the real cold sets in. I might try finish piecing this quilt over the weekend... right after my uni assignments! :)

A bag for DD's "laptop"

My DD has a toy laptop, which she plays educational games on. Anyway it didn't come with anything to store it in, so I have made her a bag. Apart from a few minor mistakes, and hiccups, I am really happy with it.
