Another bag....

Tonight I had a ball. Gail got her sewing machine back and we had a sewing night. We definately have to do this again, Gail!! We both made the same bag.

Here is the TUTORIAL that we used to make this bag. It's a reversible shopping bag. Though I won't be turning mine inside out, since the lining is just scraps of pink sewn together. :)

Yes... it's new.

The template is I mean.

What do you think??

I have been wanting a change for a while, just been to busy and a tad too scared of HTML and all that stuff.

I'm also on the hunt for craft blogs to look at. I love craft blogs. I love to see what other people have created. So if you are a Creative Expressions reader, and you have a craft blog, please leave the link so I can have a squizzy at what YOU do. :) (unless of course your blog is listed already in the blog list.) :D

I'm planning to have a sewing evening tonight with Gail, so hopefully I'll have something to show you soon.

Call me the bag lady...

I have a small problem. I love making bags.

This bag I made for my SIL - and inside is a matching shopping bag. :)

I plan to make DH a very masculine looking shopping bag, since plastic bags are now sooooo 20th century... :)

I have started a fluffy raggy quilt for my cousin in law. I noticed when I was having a girls night out with her and my other cousin in law that she had "gained a little weight" - I kept my suspicions to myself. But she told us an hour later that she is expecting her very first. I am SOOOOO excited! She is such a dear cousin... even though she isn't MY cousin so to speak, and I really wanted to make something for her to celebrate. So I have green and yellow flannelette pastels, and I am in the process of sewing it all together. :)

I am totally loving the sewing machine Mum gave me. It's absolutely awesome. It sews so well, it is easy to use (once you read the manual! LOL) and I am just so thrilled with it. :)

Fabric baskets

I had an awesome day today, sewing!!

I made these today. They are fabric baskets to store smaller odds and ends in. Thanks to the lining lesson I received for my handbag, it certainly made lining these baskets a heck of alot easier!

I could just kiss her!!!

Elijor definately should be writing instructions for sewing patterns, because she is a LEGEND!! Seriously, Butterick may as well have writted in double dutch - because that's how well I understood it!

For days I have been driving myself mental, trying to put the lining into my handbag. I have been sewing and unpicking and almost screaming in frustration.

So I asked for help on Craftster - and a very kind lady named Elijor gave me VERY clear instructions on how to attatch the lining and understitch it. 45 minutes later....

You like??

I LOVE it!!

So to dear Elijoy - thankyou so much!! You really are clever to write such amazing and detailed instructions and I appreciate it very much! Big hugs to you!
Now I am going to make myself a matching shopping bag to go inside!
I am going to whip up another handbag for my SIL... another day! LOL

An update..

Lots of unfinished bits and bobs still going on...

I started my handbag, but have stopped for the moment because I am having a hard time lining it.. I don't understand the instructions that are on the pattern. :( So I've stopped for the moment because I am getting more and more frustrated - and I keep having to unpick the blasted thing.. :( If anyone has any experience lining handbags with circle handles, I would appreciate any advice because I am going nuts over here!! (I am also PMTing... so that probably explains my low tolerance etc)

I am plugging away at basting on circles for my son's quilt. I have a deadline of first of April for this so I can take the quilt top and stitch them on properly while I am on holiday or travelling.

I am also working on a recipe book as part of a swap with a group of friends. I decided to digi scrap the recipes and paper scrap the rest of it. Here is a sample of my digi-scrapping. Will show you the rest when it's put together.

Mum has given me two sewing machines to try out. Both are embroidery machines. She was given them by a friend of hers who was going to die. She plans to give me one of the machines... so I have tried one - and wasn't that impressed with it, even though it's computerised... it sews sooo slowly which is a bit annoying and skips stitches. I'll play around with it some more, and then try the other one.

So that's what I am up to. One day soon you will have 50 projects to be shown you all at once!!! :)
