Bible Cover/Bible Handbag

Last week my dear man gave me an early birthday present - a brand new study Bible. For those of you who care, it's the New Living Translation - Transformation Study Bible.

I wanted to make myself a really nice Bible cover for it to go in. I searched online for tutorials and patterns for what I wanted, and I couldn't find a thing that I liked, so I had to wing it a bit. One day I may write a tutorial for this.

This is how it turned out.

I'm really happy with it. It looks like a cute handbag when I am carrying it. It has 4 pockets, inside and out. I am going to have the most stylish Bible cover in the church! :) My Mum bought me this fabric to "make something for myself with" - I think I have enough fabric to make a really cute tote bag or something for myself. But I think I need to get xmas stuff over and done with first. Not to mention my Spring Cleaning List.

Hmm... I have one month to go.. I better get on with it!!

A top for Mop

bah... what a rubbish heading.

But I did make a lovely top for my Mop. I saw a tutorial on Sew Mama Sew for a Spring Ruffle Top and I wanted to make one for myself... then I thought.. hmm.. maybe I should make my girl one first, if it doesn't work out, then I have only wasted a fraction of the material. :) SO I started this last night and finished it this afternoon.

Don't mind the filthy look - she has been unwell, so is less than cheerful.

What do you think??

Mop absolutely loves this top. She is wearing it now... didn't want to hang it up in her wardrobe. :) She grinned at me when I popped it on her.. "My Mum can sew clothes!!" :) I think she is proud of me.

I've come a long way I think. I'm proud of me!

Teach em to wear their babies!

I am a big fan of wearing my babies. I think there is nothing more wonderful! So I decided to make a baby carrier and a baby quilt for my niece for Christmas. This quilt is the first experience I had with free-motion quilting. I found it rather difficult, but I guess with practice it will get easier and better.

This is supposed to be from Milly - but since she isn't quite two yet, I think I can safetly choose a gift on her behalf. And I thought the recipient would love this!

What do you think?

Don't mind the headless model, she is really crook and looks like death, but willingly posed for me so I could put it on my blog.

So one more thing off my challenge list!! WOOOHOO!!

Bargain!!

Yesterday I found a large lonely plastic bag filled with curtain/upholstery off-cuts. Of course I felt such compassion for it, so I took it home to keep company with all my other handbag fabrics.

I LOVE bargains!! Especially in the fabric department!!

NEVER work with animals or children..

I think I proved that theory in my first attempt at my annual Christmas Photo Shoot. Milly refused to co-operate and just cried for Daddy. EJ refused to smile or even look in the remote direction of the camera and Mop's hair kept clinging to her face and didn't follow directions.

*sigh*

So we go to another beach location in a month and I will give it another crack. It's leaving it VERY fine for my liking. I like to have my card designed and printed by mid November - and this weekend away is the second weekend in November. I'm not going to freak. But I certainly will be armed with Natural Confectionary (lollies/candy for those who don't have a clue what they are) for bribery and will superglue their faces into appropriate expressions if need be. :)

But here are a selection of my favourite shots of the day - I didn't have time to edit them in any way, so they are in "as is condition" - will have to play around with them later, when I have time.

Just under 2 months of Spring left. Hopefully I get my challenge done!
