Recent buys

I've been in a kind of crafting funk lately. I came back from my uni intensive with a fried brain and a severe depletion of creativity and a desire to create. I've been wandering from project to project and not really settling on anything. So when I can't create... I'll buy instead. Hehe!

I've been crocheting for a while now.... and I thought it was high time to invest in place markers. I've been using coloured yarn and safety pins for a while. These are so cute and I love the colours!

I have been invited to a baby shower next weekend - and unfortunately I am unable to attend. I wanted to give my gift to the Mum-to-be this Sunday at Church. There is nothing like a deadline to force me to sit down and focus! Spotlight had a good sale on fabric - so I bought enough for two sets of spit cloths and two sets of change mats.

Crochet is the best medicine

My body is fighting a lugie. I feel my head starting to fill and my throat feels scratchy - and MAN! I am tired!! So today has been made a day of rest. Which means a day of crochet!

I whipped this up and got a pattern ready for my students in my crochet class

Some squishy mail arrived today for my next project that I am doing with my crochet class.
I love these colours!!!!

I've also been working on another commissioned charcoal beanie project and have a pink one on order as well. I also have a few other crochet projects on the go too. Crochet ADHD! It's perfect for a day in my armchair, with essential oils in the diffuser and a cup of tea to sip.

My first crafty spend for 2015

I'm doing well! It's February and I just made my first crafty purchase! Ok so it's the beginning of February... But still...

I've been enjoying making my diary pretty. I've been a lot more in control of my time and have been more productive because of this diary... and to make this part of my day more fun I get to pretty it up! Well I was wandering around Cheap as Chips when these cute things jumped off the shelf at me. CUTE!! So I bought them.

I also made a purchase to help me use up some of my stash. I bought more toweling fabric so that I could use up the fabric that I have lying around designated for spit cloths.

And thus endeth the confession.

My DONE list

I love lists. I have made no secret about the fact I like to be organised. I like to tick things off my To-Do list and feel satisfied as I accomplish things. Last year, after a particularly rough trot my psychologist challenged me to not be held prisoner to my To-Do list. This year I noticed that I would feel a lot of frustration and discourangemnt as things off my to-do list weren't even touched because of other things that needed my attention. I felt like I wasn't getting much done and wondered where my time was going!

Then I decided to revamp my To-Do list. At the end of each day I put on my To-Do list on my computer the things that I ABSOLUTELY MUST DO. Things like appointments, wash a child's uniform or vital things like that. Then I wrote on scrap paper the day and then all the things that I have accomplished during the day. I saw things that needed doing, and I did them.

I came away at the end of the day feeling like my day had not dissolved beneath me and there were things I HAD accomplished.  I felt happy because I was paying closer attention to what was going on around me and my home and saw things that needed doing. My focus was not on my list and what my next task was, but rather THIS is my task right now and I'm sure my next task will reveal itself to me in time.

I have been writing my lists on scrap paper - but yesterday I found this cute journal in Lincraft for $2. SOLD! Now I have lined paper with pretty hearts inside to write my accomplishments and to actually feel good and positive at the end of the day because I did what was needed.

Fabric Delivery

A little while ago I ordered some fabric bundles for a bargain price from the US - which got delivered to my bestie in NY, which then got sent on to me. :) I am particularly excited about the Moda Glamping FQ pack - which I want to make a lovely quilt or two for our caravan. :)

Without further ado, I will just let the products speak for themselves!

So puuuurrrrdy!?

The loose FQ's down the bottom of the pic were freebies.

Pre-loved bargain!

A score from the op-shop.

50 cents each. I figure I can "modernise" these as I make them. They are simple patterns for kids clothing. $2 well spent I reckon!

It was a bargain!!!

- I found Very Hungry Caterpillar fabric that they had marked down quite significantly! I ordered up big, since I shall be making a few of these quilts this year! I still have the panels and a few more yards of other fabric to go with it to buy, but I got such a great deal!

8.5 yards of VHC fabric for $51.28. Not bad! Not bad at all. I cleaned them up of their stock :)

I am waiting for a shipment to arrive in the other shop that I intend to buy the panels and other fabric from - and then I'll buy and hopefully that will be all the fabric I NEED to buy this year.

I need to have 1 VHC and another baby quilt made by late March. So I better get my skates on. I'm in the processing of designing a pattern for VHC quilt. I don't like the ones that Andover Fabrics offer.

With my gift certificate I bought a jelly roll and a dessert roll. My very first ones EVER. Here they are:

As I was spending my gift voucher in The Quilt Shoppe

I'm now on the hunt for a lovely pattern (preferably free). Any suggestions?

Penny Pinching begins now..

Today I went to Spotlight... and spent my last lot of money on fabric. In 2010 I will be using stash only, unless it's for the VHC quilts I am making. I will spend money on cottons and perhaps interfacing only - and spend gift vouchers if I get them.

Today I went out with a bang. I bought a few ends of rolls - 26ish meters for 13 bucks! :) I plan on trying to make myself a few bits for the old wardrobe with them. I also want to make a few things for the girls as well.

So from now on, you will see mostly bits that are from my stash. :) Shall be a good challenge I think. I shall enjoy this!

I'll give myself a new topic "Penny Pinching" and show you what I can make with my scraps and odds and ends.

Bargain!!

Yesterday I found a large lonely plastic bag filled with curtain/upholstery off-cuts. Of course I felt such compassion for it, so I took it home to keep company with all my other handbag fabrics.

I LOVE bargains!! Especially in the fabric department!!
