Chunky washcloths

Part of a few Christmas presents....

I found this pattern on Pinterest and it was so incredibly simple. I used two strands of 8ply cotton and it is so thick and lovely. I think I want one or two for me!!

Headband

I've seen these things about and always wondered if they would keep my head warm. Well... they keep half of it warm - and certainly keep your ears warm!! But it also keeps the wild "just washed my hair" tresses in place and out of my face. I like it!!

I feel so cute in it!

I need to make lots more now and in different colours!!

Labels

I've been thinking about how to package or present the small crochet items I make for my friends. I wanted it to look like a "professional" handmade product. I found these cute little labels on Pinterest and printed them up on some of my scrapbooking paper that I have had lying around.

Here is a beanie that I have finished and packaged up.

It's so cute!!

I made up some washing instruction labels to stick on the back as well. I'm so pleased with how this looks and it gives it a little extra something!

So cute! {slash that stash}

My brain was aching from all the reading I was doing for the research paper. I needed to do something different and exercise another part of my brain. I grabbed my crochet hook, rummaged around in my orphan yarn for a leftover ball of cotton and I began to crochet - and later that night I ended up with this finished beanie!

It's so cute! I love it and will be wearing it quite often I think! I might make a few more for myself - but since sharing this pic on facebook, a few of my friends have ordered some. So maybe I'll make some for me after that!

Scarf #2

A while ago I crocheted my boy a scarf for school. My youngest also asked for one and so for the last few weeks I have been crocheting (and frogging more times than I can count) a cute little infinity scarf.

She loves it and couldn't wait to wear it to school!

The pattern was found on Pinterest - another finish for my Pinteresting challenge! (I really need to update this page in a major way!!)

Uni assignments are going really well and so I am beginning to think of the time I will have to create before next semester. I want to get onto the pile of WIPS sitting next to me and reduce it considerably, finish my hexie quilt top, ready to hand quilt and finish my Granny sampler.

Taco Lasagne

Yep, you can drool.

This was a pretty tasty meal, served with guacamole and a dollop of sour cream. It was all kinds of delicious and really easy to make. The family gave this one the thumbs up.

Recipe found on Pinterest.

Brunch muffins

We invited our new Pastor and his family over for brunch. I love brunch, don't you? I made these: Spinach and Feta Muffins. Om nom! They were pretty tasty! The recipe had tomato on top, but I omitted that mainly because hubby doesn't really like tomato.

I got the recipe from Pinterest and you can find it HERE

Bracing ourselves for winter.

Winter has arrived - early and with a blast! The days are cool, the wind is freezing and the sunshine is divine! EJ asked me to make him a scarf for school. How could I refuse such a beautiful boy??
It was a very simple scarf, but I think it's perfect for school. It keeps his throat and chest toasty warm!

Naturally I found this pattern on Pinterest! You can find the pin HERE.
It's another completed pin under my belt for my Pinteresting challenge. Yay me!

Crunchy French Toast (Pinteresting)

While we were away for the long weekend, I decided to give a breakfast recipe I had pinned ages ago a try.

Crunchy French Toast.

Seriously. YUM!

I did change the recipe somewhat. I put raspberries in with the nutella in the middle and it was just as awesome.

Tomato overload!

The worst thing about growing tomatoes is that they all grow and ripen at the same time. Not three a week.... 133 a week! So what does one do when the tomatoes are starting to over-ripen because we can't eat them fast enough?

This one makes ketchup in the Thermomix!

It's been a busy weekend....

We have been flat out this weekend seasoning our camper trailer tents. We also hit the beach with my family for a picnic, which was really nice. Inbetween being oh-so-social and oh-such-a-hose-expert - I managed to finish off 2 larger blocks for my sampler blanket. Here is one of them:

I also spent half an hour of Sunday afternoon (inbetween seasoning canvas!) on my diary. This week has lots of camping jobs to do, because we are going camping this weekend! This is our first run in the camper trailer and we are pretty excited about it.

This is my last week of freedom before the uni semester begins. I'm planning to make the most of it and hope to get lots of crafty stuff done inbetween all the campy stuff.

Chick Pea Fritters (Pinteresting)

Yum. Just yum! Very filling, very low in calories and just yum!

The kids demolished these in no time, and my very carnivore husband enjoyed them too. There have been requests to have these again, so I say they were a hit!

Modesty aka cover them ugly knees!

Last year I bought myself a beautiful dress from overseas. I had been in love with it for ages and watched carefully for specials so I could have an excuse to buy it. That moment came and I bought it! When it arrived I was disappointed to see that it was shorter than I expected. The model was 5 foot 100 and the dress sat just above her knee. Me at 5 foot 1 - I assumed it would sit either on my knee or just below it. It didn't. I could see my ugly knees. I hate my knees.

Not to worry! I had seen someone with this same dillema on Pinterest.  They ended up making a slip to wear under their too short skirts. I don't do petticoats or slips or any other thing like that. So I attached the cute lace strip to the bottom of my dress.

The dress now sits below my knee and I feel comfortable and extremely feminine in it. I can't wait to wear it.

Greek Burgers (Pinteresting)

I found this recipe on Pinterest a while back and I decided that I would give them a go for dinner. It is a greek flavoured burger pattie with a cucumber sauce. Pretty delicious. I served it with baby spinach leaves, capsicum and tomato.

(excuse the dodgy photo, but this was slapped together very quickly so my staaaaarrrvvving children could eat!)

Verdict: YUM! They were demolished off very quickly. My hubby said they had a Yiros flavour about them and he thoroughly enjoyed them.

Another Granny Square for my sampler.

I've picked up my crochet hook once again to start working on more squares for my Granny sampler I am doing with my crochet students. This is one I whipped up this morning between loads of washing and trying to find places to hang things. It's wet, stormy and dreary today - a great day for getting my craft on! Unfortunately it's too hot to snuggle up with quilting, my usual rainy day activity!

Honey Balsamic Beef

It was really hot today. Too hot to spend time with a hot oven or stove. I pulled out the slow cooker and got to work on a Honey Balsamic Pulled Pork recipe I found on Pinterest. Except Pork is really expensive at the moment, so I used beef.

Verdict: YUM!
I didn't get hot and sweaty in the kitchen.
It just simmered away in this delicious smelling sauce all day. Shredded it up and served it. Yep. That's my kind of hot summer's evening dinner!

Summer is coming!

Summer is coming and what better way to prepare for it than to make a sweet and refreshing cordial to put into icy water or mineral water. Strawberry and apple cordial. Yummmm! It tastes wonderful! And I made it in the trusty thermomix!

We interrupt the assignment from satan to bring you some OM NOM NOMS!

This was last night's dinner. And it was delicious!! The kids even cleaned their plates!!

Another pin tried and loved!!
Ok back to the hellish ordeal of systems theory. Go ahead, feel sorry for me if you like... I won't mind. :)

Dishing up the dishcloth

It's finished!! I finished it off while the kids were doing gymnastics. I'm pretty happy with it. :) I love the design as well and I'm going to make loads more!!

Merry Christmas Special Needs Unit Teacher # 1 (Handmade Christmas 2014)

There are 2 ladies in the special needs department that take care of my son on a daily basis. They help him when he has a sensory overload, they help him calm down each and every after-lunch so he goes back into the class room rested and ready to go for the last part of the day. They are unsung heroes and are not usually thanked or appreciated for their hard work. So this Christmas, to say thank you and to say Merry Christmas, I made Teacher #1 this lovely lacy scarf. I love it! It's such a beautiful pattern and colour!! I think next time I will make it narrower and with a larger hook.
