Tu-Tu Cute!

I know... it's corny, but I couldn't resist!

It was my niece's first birthday over the weekend, and I couldn't resist making something so sweet for the sweet little person she is. (She makes my eggs rattle in the worst way, she's so adorable!)

Personal challenge.

So the birthday's in my life are finished for the moment - and I have a huge chunk of time to work on the kids quilts for Christmas.

Remember this?

Mop's Quilt Top

Well I finished that quilt top just over a year ago. :( It's been put on the back burner for a while because I've been so busy with other projects and study. But now it's back on the fore-front. For the last week I've been embroidering it and I've picked the templates that I plan to applique on the top. Fusible web is sitting her nicely waiting for me to trace the shapes.

I want to give this to her for Christmas so I need to get a wriggle along.

So my challenge is. I'm giving myself a deadline.

Embroidery part of quilt: 10 days - deadline - 4th July.

Applique part of the quilt: 10 days - deadline - 14th July.

Then I will be spending a fair bit of time quilting it. I planned to hand quilt it. But I may change my mind... depending how I go with other two kids quilts I want to give them for Christmas.

So come back in 10 days time to see the sweet embroidery I've done on this quilt! :)

Yankee Doodle Zacky

My bestie and her family are moving to New York in 3 weeks :(. It was his birthday last month (yes I am a terrible friend, I forgot.) and I decided to make something that would tell a story about this time in his life.

The colors and stars were deliberate - both are stars from each country's flag. The stars of the Southern cross are represented on the blue side, and the stars from the star spangled banner of the US flag.

I made a pillow case so just in case he doesn't want to snuggle under it, he can sit on it or lay on it.

Happy Birthday Yankee Doodle Zacky boy. I'm sorry it was late. My defense is that I was up to my eyeballs in assignments and research.

SOOOOOOPER Boys!

Friends of ours boys just had a birthday - they were born 2 years apart but in the same month. I thought it would be fun for them to have something they could play together.... or alone. Whatever they like....
Anyway.... I made them superhero capes.

VHC quilt number 2

This is my very dear friend's baby quilt.
This is my second attempt at FMQing.... and I didn't enjoy it much I must admit! I had so many problems with tension and getting this right. Hopefully next time I'll have more fun.
If it looks familiar, you are not going nuts, it's the same design as the previous VHC quilt.

Flutterby

I'm very proud of this, I designed and executed this cute little cushion for Aimee. It's quilted and embroidered and I'm happy with how it turned out.

I've been very busy over the last few days, finishing projects up - some have to wait for a few more days before I put them up here. I know a certain best friend checks out my blog... and I don't want to ruin any surprises that may or may not be coming like the last time! :S

Worship photographs.

I was asked by our pastor to take some photos around the church for the website and DVD. Here is a couple of our worship team and one of a group in the church cafe. I'm quite proud of how they turned out!

Machine Applique'd

I'm so thrilled with how this one turned out. I started it a few months ago, and finished it this week. I got the tutorial from
Don't Look Now. and I want to attempt a few of her designs later on, when I actually finish off the current UFO's!

This little beauty is now tucked away in the gift cuboard, for some lucky girl for Christmas, or birthday...
