Simply sweet.

After I finished the last quilt I have felt rather lost. My hands are empty now when I sit down. I don't feel soothed and relaxed as I stitch tiny little stitches. I am almost mourning that project that is now over. I have another one I want to do, but waiting for either a) a voucher to come in the mail from Spotlight or b)money to pay for this quilt project.

So anyway... today, I saw a few needles that I had out from my quilt, and thought. "You know what? I need a pin cushion. It's safer for the kids - I won't be loosing them all the time, and it will save me time looking for the blasted thing every time I put it down."

So I sat down this afternoon and began stitching by hand a little pin cushion. I could have done it by machine and saved myself... oh about 1 1/2 hours. But I enjoyed sitting there stitching away. It only took me 1 hour and 45 minutes.

It's very simple, but I am very proud of it. It's made from fabric that a lady gave me from freecycle. She had stacks of fabric (not suitable for quilting unfortunately) that she wanted to get rid of, so I stuck my hand up for a few rolls of the stuff.

Introducing my very first quilting project

Last night, at approximately midnight, I finished my very first quilting project. I am no longer a quilt virgin!

This quilt was a big learning experience for me, and even though it's not perfect I am very proud of it.

Here it is - complete at last.

Excuse the waves, but it's breezy out today.

Finished... partly

I am very excited. 2 months of hand quilting every spare minute every day - and I am finished!!

Now I just need to learn how to bind!!

Off to try find some instructions so I can get the materials from the shops tomorrow.

As excited as I am, I really want another project to hand quilt. I find sitting down sewing very soothing and relaxing. :)

Fresh produce

Not technically a craft and not technically creative - but look!! My first tomatoes from my veggie garden!!!

It may seem that I haven't done anything lately - but I have come to a stand-still. I am STILL waiting for that blasted interfacing to arrive. Apparently there is a shortage with the suppliers, so I have to sit tight and wait. So I can't sew my nappy bag, my niece's apron or bag because I NEED that interfacing.

That's ok, I've been working on the quilt, I am almost done which is cool. But I am really worried about the binding. I can't work out how to do it! I am trying to read tutorials and watch You-tube tutorials, but I don't understand how it works. I will keep trying though. I need to finish this quilt.

I recently joined the Beginner Quilters on EB, so I will be hopefully learning lots from them.

I hope to finish hand quilting this baby in a day or two.

I'm going on a holiday in two weeks, and I have saved all my digi-scrapping for then. I'll do it in the car while we are driving in the middle of nowhere! I'm off to the Red Center! WOOT!! Can't wait! When I come back, I should have quite a few pages to show off! (hopefully)
