FMQ venting

I don't understand it, I really don't!!
I got my machine all sorted out for FMQ. I adjusted the tension. I practiced on 4 sandwhiches, making sure that everything will be ok. They were the same material and wadding as the real piece. It looked perfect! WOOT!. So.... I get my real quilt out and then all of a sudden... nooooo it doesn't want to be ok anymore. There are loops, there the cottons snaps, it's all going ape! What happened? I didn't change the cotton (Guitermann stuff) - I didn't do anything.
So I spent the next few hours cleaning my machine and trying to adjust the tension.... and it's still not happy. Missed stitches is about the best I can get at the moment.

I seriously want to to pick up my machine and throw it to the other side of the suburb! Why is it that it worked for the practice piece but because I have a deadline of 3 weeks and 5 days to finish 2 quilts - it won't work!!!

OPM for February

I know it doesn't seem like much - but it's the best I can do for this month - as a complete project.

So here they are: (Based on this tutorial) - Finger oven mitts!

Photobucket

These will be a gift for my SIL for her birthday that's next week.

I've been working on 2 quilts madly this month. I have to get both of them finished in 5 weeks - so the pressure is on! I've been practicing my free motion quilting and machine quilting and I think I am ready to start. :) I'm feeling rather brave, since I am doing my first FMQ NOT in a ripple pattern, but just a big vine sort of pattern...

I guess you will see it later...

:)

I've also done a bit of photography as well as part of a gift for my Mum's birthday. Photobucket is playing up on me and I can't upload the pictures easily. The only reason the finger mitts did is because it came from my phone.

Well I best get on with basting these quilts together so I can start quilting them.

Flat out like a lizard drinking!

That's me.

So what have I been doing this week?

I started chopping up my birthday fat quarters - but quickly put that away when the order I placed a while ago in the USA arrived. VHC fabric for the baby quilts I am making - that need to be pieced, quilted, and bound in t-minus ... *checks calendar* 6 weeks and 5 days. Ok .. so that's a little tight.

So yesterday I cut up the fabric for both quilts.
Today I pieced all the squares.
Tomorrow I will do nothing because it's my little boy's birthday party and I will be busy.
Monday - I'll start putting the quilt tops together.
I'm hoping I will get at least one finished by the end of the month for my OPAM project.

Fingers crossed.
Wish me luck!

Pre-loved bargain!

A score from the op-shop.

50 cents each. I figure I can "modernise" these as I make them. They are simple patterns for kids clothing. $2 well spent I reckon!

Blog Template Links.

Ok so Car asked - I think for the second time now... Where do I get my blog backgrounds?

Ok number 1: I don't use blog backgrounds. I hate them.
I use blog TEMPLATES. They are all jazzied up for me - it's just a matter of finding the right one for the blog.

Before I give you a list of links of template people, I have some tips.
1. Create a "test blog" so you can test these blog templates out. Because they are free - you can't expect quality control. It's better to Try it out on a blog that no one will see and that won't destry your current blog.

2. When uploading your template KEEP YOUR WIDGETS. It saves time later on putting them all back in.

So here are a few of my favourite template people:
