Baby shower gift

Photobucket

A friend of mine had her baby shower on Saturday and this is what I made. Burp cloths! I love these! I wish I was sewing when I had babies, because I would have had heaps of groovy looking ones!

I attached a poem to the parcel of burp cloths as well as a kind of explanation of what they are, just in case it's not that obvious to the new Mama.

You are anticipating the arrival
Of your precious bundle of joy
As a seasoned Mum, I tell you
It will be a messy girl or boy.

Rosy cheeks, big blue eyes,
Snuffles, “goo’s” and “a-gah”
Are all cute and endearing....
Until they dribble down your bra

When Junior’s had too much to eat
And burps up the excess
It’s better for Junior to puke on these
Than down the back of your dress

Let’s not forget the endearing grins
That are toothless to begin
When the darling’s teeth start to appear
The dribble flows down their chin

So here is a baby burp cloth
They are pretty and they are thick
You place it on your shoulder
To catch the baby’s sick....
And snot...
And sneezes...
And the dribbles...

Oh come let us adore Him

This is my very first table runner, completed and looking rather festive if I do say so myself. :)

Excuse the dodgy angle :)

Happy Birthday dear Niece!

I can't believe she is one! It seems like only yesterday she was a snuffling little newborn!

Her Mummy hinted rather strongly that she wanted a cute dress made for little madam, so I took some measurements and this is what I made.

(Excuse the shoddy background, but DH was working so there was stuff everywhere)

I based it on this tutorial: Sunshine Dress

Blinded

For ages I've had a broken, dodgy, faded old roman blind hanging in my kitchen window. I have been meaning to do something about it for just as long - and yesterday I finally decided that it was time. DH helped me with some of the fiddly stuff and the measuring etc... but pretty much, we used the old blind as a guide... and this is the results!!

I love it! The fabric looks lovely with my bright yellow walls and it makes me feel all sunshiney and happy in the kitchen.

Wrapping up a crazy uni semester....

... and I can tell you... it's been absolutely NUTS!!! I've been so busy that my darling Pfaffy has stood next to me while I wrote countless papers and researched very deep and meaningful topics, completely and utterly ignored.

So to celebrate the end of assignments and semester, I lovingly took Pfaffy's cover off and oiled her, cleaned her.... and put her straight back to work. I made 2 gifts for 2 little people in my family who will be starting school next year. These darlings are going to go to school, each with an individual library bag. One with Barbie and one with Buzz... just in case you missed it. :P
